Skills                                        Susan apprenticed under Tony Black, A.C.E. in Washington, DC.  She assisted Tony on several films and documentaries.  At the end of her apprenticeship, Tony hired Susan as a junior editor where she went on to edit with him for the next six-years.  Susan also joined the AVID Software Beta Testing team during this time, thereby acquiring edit suite troubleshooting skills and in the process, she learned to be more than just a creative editor.  While cutting at a major post-production facility in Washington, DC, Susan cut commercials, politicals (during three super charged political seasons!), PSA’s, infomercials, but mostly documentaries.
Discovery Communications and National Geographic are based in Washington DC and the experience Susan gained from working directly with Executive Producers from these organizations has been invaluable for her subsequent work back in South Africa.

Susan is a Full Member of the South African Guild of Editors, (S.A.G.E.).  She was awarded the use of the acronym in 2010.  In 2011 Susan won Best Editing at the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival for her work on“The Last Lions”.  Susan also has three SAFTA awards for Best Editing  of a Wildlife Television Program.
